Take part in saving the Jewish mothers of our generation!

In this week's parasha reading, we learn about the righteous midwives who served Klal Yisroel whilst they were enslaved in Mitzrayim (Egypt). By ignoring Pharaoh's wicked decrees, they succeeded in illuminating the dark exile. Hashem rewarded these two midwives, Shifra and Puah, by blessing them with a profusion of esteemed, noble descendents. They merited the crowns of kehunah (priesthood) and malchus (royalty).

Our sages have said that kriah meorer hazman - meaning that the reading of the weekly Torah portion awakens the same power which prevailed during those times in history. This is a golden opportunity to invoke multitudes of blessing in our personal lives and in expediting the geulah shleimah! Let us utilize this auspicious time to follow in the footsteps of our righteous ancestors by pledging the amount of chai, signifying life, to the worthy cause of Kimputerin Aid.

The word kimputerin connotes a woman in childbirth, often a woman in need. Kimputerin Aid is dedicated to strengthening and encouraging the Jewish mother who forges new links in the chain of our heritage.

Until recently, an exultant yet exhausted kimputerin was ensconced in the warm embrace of grandmothers, aunts and neighbors who rallied to assist her throughout the period of recovery. Nowadays, such dedicated care is either unavailable or insufficient for many families. Thus, Kimputerin Aid has stepped in to fill this gaping void. We provide these new mothers with professional housekeepers, experienced homemakers, care for the newborn, and sibling care. With understanding and genuine concern, we turn the birth of a Jewish child into the untainted simcha it is meant to be.
